Street Names

Most of the street names in Hobson Village (with the exceptions of Charles and Gartner) are names of famous racehorses including winners of the Kentucky Derby, the Belmont Stakes, the Preakness Stakes, and the prestigious Triple Crown.   There have been 11 winners of the triple crown, including Sir Barton (1919), Omaha (1930), Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Citation (1948), and Secretariat (1973).

The "Triple Crown" title is won by any 3-year-old winning the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes.

Other Winners of the Kentucky Derby include Riva Ridge (1972), Canonero II (1971), Proud Clarion (1967), Kauai King (1966), Chateaugay (1963), Venetian Way (1959), Tim Tam (1958), Iron Liege (1957), Needles (1956), Dark Star (1953), Count Fleet (1943), Cavalcade (1934), and  Lookout (1893).

Other Belmont Stakes winners include Blue Larkspur (1929), Celtic Ash (1960), and Riva Ridge (1972)

Other Preakness winners include Challedon (1939), Faireno (1932), Tim Tam (1958), Jaipur (1962)
Kauai King (1966), and Canonero II (1971).

Tim Tam, Kauai King, and Canonero II were Triple Crown "near misses" winning the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, but failing to win the Belmont.   In 1958 Tim Tam came in second, in 1966 Kauai King came in second, and in 1971 Canonero II came in fourth at Belmont.

Some other "near misses:"  In 1956,
Needles won the Derby and Belmont, but came in second at the Preakness.  The same thing happened to Chateaugay in 1963.  In 1972 Riva Ridge also won the other two races, but came in fourth at the Preakness.

2011 Hobson Village Board of Directors

Contact information for the Board of Directors can be found in the Hobson Village resident directory as well as our monthly homeowners association newsletter.

Tennis Courts

Hobson Village has two tennis courts in Derby Park.   For everyone's benefit, please follow the Tennis Court Rules and rules of tennis etiquette.

Architectural Changes

Residents wanting to make changes to their properties should read and follow the By-Laws (see in particular section VI).  Applications to the board for approval should be submitted to the Architectural Committee chair on the form provided here.

Restrictions and Bylaws

The "Restrictions, Conditions and Reservations" document was created by MIDAM, Inc., the company that developed the Hobson Village subdivision in 1975.  This document provides the legal authority for the homeowners association to own the common property within the subdivision, and to collect money from homeowners to maintain this property.  The document also establishes certain architectural controls and restrictions for all homes within the subdivision.  (PDF File or HTML)

The "Bylaws" document was created by the Hobson Village Board of Directors.  This document describes how the homeowners association operates and the duties and responsibilities of the Board.  (PDF File or HTML)

The architectural restrictions contained in these documents were put in place for the benefit of all homeowners.  If you are considering any addition or modification to the outside of your home, you should review these documents.  Homeowners are required to obtain the written approval from all adjoining property owners, as well as from the Board of Directors, before constructing any external structure, enclosure or addition to their home.  In addition, satellite dishes greater than one meter in diameter, ham radio towers, and above-ground swimming pools are strictly prohibited.
